European Parliament election 2009 results
Elections were held on Thursday 4th June 2009, to choose the UK's 72 Members of the European Parliament. Elections are held every five years. Due to enlargement of the EU the number of MEPs from the United Kingdom has been reduced from 78 to 72. UK voter turnout was 34.7%, down from 38.5% at the 2004 election.
