Patrick Christys: Age, Wife, GB News Show and the Leaving Rumours
Patrick Christys hosts the weekday 9pm programme on GB News that carries his name, and by our count the presenter who fills more of the channel’s airtime than anyone else. He is 34, married to fellow presenter Emily Carver, and became a father in September 2025. The question people search most about him, whether he is leaving the channel, has a simple answer: we found no credible report that he is, and the official schedule keeps him on air into October.
In short
- Who: presenter on the channel since August 2021, host of the 9pm weekday show since November 2023. Born in February 1992, originally from Cheshire.
- Leaving? No credible report. His two recent absences were paternity leave in September 2025 and a family holiday in March 2026.
- Our finding: counting live shows and overnight replays, 30 hours a week of the channel’s schedule carry his name, more than any other presenter.
Who is Patrick Christys?
He was born on 21 February 1992, according to his Wikipedia entry, and grew up in the North West of England. He started in local newspapers as a reporter at the Westmorland Gazette from 2014 to 2016, then worked as an overnight editor for the Express and Daily Star websites. Radio came next: he hosted breakfast at Love Sport Radio and became talkRADIO’s youngest presenter on its drive-time show.
He joined GB News at its launch in August 2021, co-presenting To The Point with Mercy Muroki. In November 2023 he took over the 9pm weekday slot previously held by Dan Wootton, and the channel’s head of programming called him “authentic, entertaining, relatable and a sharp journalist”, PinkNews reported. That show is still his.
Did he go to university? His channel biography says he completed a law degree during lockdown. It does not name the university.
Patrick Christys Tonight: when it’s on
| Show | When (UK time) | Replay |
|---|---|---|
| Patrick Christys Tonight | Monday to Friday, 9 to 11pm | 3 to 5am the next morning |
| Late Edition | Monday to Friday, 11pm to midnight | 5 to 6am the next morning |
The Late Edition hour was already on air by June 2025 and remains in the schedule. When he is away, a stand-in presents; in March 2026 it was Alex Armstrong.
The presenter with the most airtime
We counted every programme in the official schedule for 21 to 27 September 2026. His live shows take 15 hours a week, the same as the other three-hour weekday hosts. The difference is the replays. His two programmes are repeated every weekday between 3am and 6am, so his name sits on 30 of the channel’s 168 weekly hours, about 18%.
From Tuesday to Friday, that is 6 of the 24 hours each day, a quarter of the broadcast day. The next names on the list, Ben Leo and Bev Turner, reach 21 hours with their nightly show from Washington. Together with his wife, whose Good Afternoon Britain runs weekdays from noon to 3pm, the couple’s names are billed on 45 hours a week, just over a quarter of everything the channel broadcasts. The full breakdown by presenter is in our GB News presenters list.
Is Patrick Christys leaving GB News?
Searches about him leaving the channel run at about 2,400 a month, more than any other question about him. We found no report from a credible outlet that he is leaving. The pages that suggest it are clickbait videos and content-farm sites, and none cites a source.
The channel’s own schedule points the other way. It lists his show every weekday up to 12 October 2026, the last date it covers. His absences in the past year each had a public explanation:
| When | Why he was off air | Source |
|---|---|---|
| September 2025 | Paternity leave after his son was born on 5 September; back on air on 27 September | Channel reports |
| 3 to 16 March 2026 | A family holiday, with Alex Armstrong standing in | GB News |
So when people ask why he is not on air tonight (800 searches a month), the answer in both recent cases was family time, not a departure.
Patrick Christys’ wife and son
He is married to Emily Carver, who co-presents Good Afternoon Britain. The couple married in 2024, and she announced her pregnancy live on his show in April 2025. Their son was born on 5 September 2025. Both parents shared the news themselves, and he described the baby as “a very happy, healthy, much loved little boy”. You can read more about her career in our Emily Carver profile. We do not publish the child’s name or any detail of where the family lives.
The police warning
In August 2026 it emerged that police had given him a threat-to-life warning on 25 July 2025, when his wife was eight months pregnant. According to IBTimes, police said people-smuggling gangs in northern France were seeking to cause him “significant harm” after his reporting from Calais, and the family left their home. GB News paid for security patrols. His response: “If their intention was to scare me into silence, they failed.”
His recovery from alcohol addiction
In February 2024 he spoke on air about his past addiction to alcohol and then thanked viewers for their support. He has also raised money for Mind, the mental health charity: more than £110,000 in 2023. He raised more than £270,000 for the Poppy Appeal the same year and £407,000 for Friends of the Elderly in 2024, according to Wikipedia.
Ofcom and controversies
We found no Ofcom breach ruling against his programmes. In June 2025, 96 people complained about a comedian’s remarks about disabled benefit claimants on the Late Edition. Ofcom decided not to investigate, citing the guest’s “established irreverent style”, Byline Times reported.
How much does Patrick Christys earn?
The channel does not publish presenter pay, and we found no credible figure. Numbers quoted for his salary or net worth, searched about 2,000 times a month in total, come from sites that do not cite a source.
Our verdict: he is the backbone of the channel’s evening schedule rather than a guest star: more hours than anyone, a fixed slot for almost three years and no sign of an exit. The leaving rumours are the least supported thing written about him.
